The American manufacturer Markforged is the manufacturer of the first 3D printers capable of printing composites. Now it is possible to make functional plastic parts with the strength of metal.
Markforged printed parts are up to 30 times stronger than similar parts made of ABS.
The Markforgedprinters do not use chemicals or additional materials, and curing of the printed parts is not necessary. After printing, the printed products are ready to be used. Professional 3D printing is now made really possible.
Markforgedprinter has 4 variants:
The Onyx One is the first composite printer in the new Markforged series with a modular construction. This system is designed to print in the newly developed Onyx material. This is a strong filament which is composed of chopped carbon fibers with nylon and combines high strength and stiffness with a beautiful surface finish that achieve high quality products.
The Onyx One printer is extremely competitively priced with a retail price of € 4499.
The Onyx One can be transformed using an upgrade kit to the Onyx Pro.
The Onyx Pro has the ability to print in Onyx and in fiberglass to assure strong reinforced parts. The Onyx Pro can also be transformed into a MarkTwo printer with many composite materials available. All Markforged printers are supplied with Eiger software which is web based and therefore suitable for Windows, Mac and Linux systems.
The MarkTwo is the extended version of the Onyx Pro and was previously known as the “Enterprise”.
The MarkTwo is able to print in more composite materials.
The MarkTwo print with the following materials
Parts which have been printed on a MarkTwo are to be up to 30 times stronger than similar parts made of ABS.
The bundled EIGER software is web based and therefore suitable for Windows, Mac and Linux systems.

In 2014, Markforged announced their first 3D composite printer in which plastic products were printed with unparalleled strength. The introduction of their MarkOne printers meant a revolution in 3D printing in a professional environment.
Now Markforged introduces the superlative composite printing with the introduction of the Mark X. This composite printer has a construction volume whichy is 2.5 times larger than the current Markforged printers and is able to provide products which have the look and feel of an injection molded product.
In addition, the Mark X features a unique integrated laser-guided inspection tool that can prevent possible inconsistencies between the design and the printed part.
The Mark X comes with the following materials:
Parts made with the Mark X are up to 40x stronger than comparable parts made of ABS.
The Mark X is fully supplied with the necessary filament, software, additional construction platform and cabinet with space for the dry box and materials.
